In 2008 the main guest at the Raflost festival was Morton Subotnick, one of the best known American composers of electronic music. Besides his pioneering work using one of the first electronic synthesizers Mr. Subotnick is probably best known for being the first person to compose electronic music specifically for LP in 1967. The piece, Silver Apples of the Moon, is now one of the classics of the electronic music scene. Besides his own improvisation, the Icelandic pianist Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir performed Subotnick’s piece “The Other Piano” at the RAFLOST festival.
Other performers included Hestbak, Netsky, Monica Frycova, Teijo Pellinen and students of the participating institutions.
